  • It’s racism. The media have stoked the populace for years with talk of “illegal immigrants”, “foreigners taking our jobs” and the “country is full”. It’s all reactionary bullshit to sell papers, get clicks, and propel the media’s chosen politicians into power. But ultimately, underneath the headlines it’s all driven by racism not facts. Immigration brings in younger people, increases the workforce, boosts the economy, helps pay for an aging population. But those facts don’t stoke outrage and sell papers.

Personally I blame Gordon Brown. He should have stood up to that “bigoted old woman” during the 2010 election campaign instead of caving in. He legitimised the narrative and we have paid and are still paying the price.

  • Let me guess. These are the same people who refuse vaccines with miniscule mortality rates, but are demanding milk infected with a virus that has more than a 50% mortality rate in humans? 🤔

Also, how is intentional getting infected to aquire immunity better than doing nothing at all? I mean, just don’t worry about it. If you get infected then you’re either dead or immune, and if you don’t get infected you didn’t need that immunity anyway. Plus, you’ve saved money by not buying your weirdo raw cow juice.

  • My approach is to start with the least aggressive cleaners and work up if the weak one doesn’t work. So basically start with dish detergent, then window/surface cleaner, alcohol, and WD-40. Acetone is the final solution, but since it melts plastic its only useful on metal or ceramic. The lettering on the NES and Commodore keys will come off with alcohol. You should always test alcohol on a small area first.

For rust, soak in white vinegar and then scrub to neutralise and remove. You should then rinse well and clean to get rid of the vinegar.

Personally I’ve only ever retrobrited plastic, but I tend not to anymore because it really does make it more brittle. Also it can be patchy on anything other than white/beige.
