Finally, I can pop this bottle of Veuve I bought in 2018!
If she didn’t have any bombs to write on in the first place, people might not have such an issue with biden.
Because you’re hyper fixated on a vote months from now that won’t help Palestinians at the current moment? Your priorities are pretty clear.
The point might actually be to sink Biden’s approval rating so low that he’s forced to reverse course on the specific thing making him unpopular and less likely to win.
If you actually cared about Palestine, you’d be on the streets demanding immediate action instead of begging people to check a box months from now when half a million Palestinians have starved to death.
Standing by and saying told you so isn’t even that different to “you deserve it” if you aren’t stepping in to help prevent it.
Your vote isn’t the entirety of your voice though. If you telegraph that you will vote for Biden this far out, Biden’s campaign advisors probably won’t tell him that reversing course is the best decision for his reelection. If you say you will not vote for him due to Gaza, even if you secretly plan on voting for him, you have more power to change their policy and help Palestinians as a whole. This doesn’t have to be a discussion on trump vs Biden. This can be about trying to strategically pivot Biden in a way that avoids getting arrested because trump sure as hell isn’t going to fix things.
This is smelling a lot like the republican “Not everything you don’t like is racist/fascist”
How different is the person with the gun to the person who is standing nearby saying “you deserve this”?
Biden has bypassed congress multiple times to sell Israel weapons. Also, he’s given them $1 billion worth of weapons like a week ago, so it’s not all sells.
The goal might be to seem weak. His campaign strategists are probably telling him that being weak will net him more democratic voters than not laying down a fake red line and seeming evil.
Do people think nukes will really happen or is it hyperbole? Jared kushner wants to own beach front property in Gaza.
I know basically nothing about economics, but from what it seems, I shouldn’t be wishing for record losses instead of record profits? They both seem to have a cascading effect that fucks us from what it seems (but them buying more yachts while we hurt definitely feels worse than all of us hurting).
Corporations showing record profits tells me that it’s harder for everyday people. Record profits means cut hours, stagnated wages, outsourced labor, more expensive goods, “shrinkflation”, cheaper components, dialed back safety standards, crunch, making salaried employees perma-lance so they don’t have to worry about benefits anymore, ghost job postings that are never intended on being filled because being understaffed is the new normal, etc. And then corporations use that record profit to bribe the government into keeping it just as shitty as it is or making it worse for us.
The system is working as intended to siphon as much money and labor as it can from workers and consumers so the metrics focus on that. Then they have the nerve to tell us that we’re being crazy for thinking that things are getting difficult.
Refusing to participate in a system designed to cause the murder of babies doesn’t mean they’re sitting on their thumbs pouting. So many people are so livid over even the concept of being given this non-choice, that they’re getting into direct action for the first time in their lives. Direct action, not voting, is responsible for the civil rights we have in this country. If the imperialist machine desperately doesn’t want to give us a voice on atrocities, it would start doing things like creating cop cities everywhere, increasing cop funding, creating laws against protesters that label them domestic terrorists, brutalizing activists but never white supremacists, and convincing the populace that voting is by far the most important and only effective tool you have.
Phil Ochs wrote a song about you
It is true that people who are apathetic towards voting because they will be treated the same either way COULD be very privileged. Alternatively, they’re people who are already treated as second class citizens and see no help or hope from biden or trump, so their livelihoods will be consistently bad (like starving to death on the street, suicide from not wanting to burden your family over a medical bill, or watching all your friends and family get bombed to death by your tax dollar bad). It’s mainly people in the middle who are affected by the presidential winner and those in the middle desperately don’t want to be pushed towards being second class citizens- it’s a plea for status quo to be maintained. Thinking that everyone who isn’t focusing on the election are people who own two yachts is a bit foolish. I’d argue that you should probably treat the yacht bro and the hopeless citizen differently.
Biden has called himself a Zionist…
If the majority of this country leans fascist and supports genocide (so long as they are sufficiently convinced the people we bomb or help bomb are evil enough), we will end up with fascism even if it isn’t trump. If genocide is the popular opinion and Biden risks losing the election if he reversed course, we have bigger issues in this country than president. A president might sign fascist laws, but local fascists enact them, and I know which one of them is more likely to kill me. Hell, local fascists might kill me even if biden wins. We have a fascism problem in this country and a huge group of voters being willing to overlook genocide is just a symptom.
Blackstone wants democrats to win while Blackrock wants republicans to win. To corporations, the choice between biden and trump is like Coke vs Pepsi because they largely win either way even if they’re a bit disappointed they have to drink Pepsi when they wanted Coke.
