Lol imagine being so socially innocuous. I hope your children (if not you) are all infertile. Fuck you and fuck the image you purport of the American average.

I genuinely hope you die of COVID because that would be the only moral desire to witness your martyrdom (if you can even reach that stage) , being the cultrumpist you’re spouting.

Get back to your Russian dictocracy, you unintelligible fucking geode.

You need to take a few steps back and look inwards. You are wishing death on another human being. Not because they did anything particularly heinous, you just got upset at them. Is this something you regularly do, or are you just having a bad day? Either way, that’s not okay and you need to find a better outlet for your anger than wishing death upon random strangers on the internet.

Sadly, I won’t be eating there much anymore, as they have discontinued the 2 for 1 deal they used to have on whoppers. It was pretty much the only reason I went there anymore.

Looks like they’re over $6 today. Way too much for a hit-or-miss item. It sucks because I really want fast food places to offer more plant-based options. The Subway veggie patty used to be pretty good, but I haven’t had it in quite some time.

That veggie patty is absolutely incredible but this is the first time I’ve ever seen anyone else mention it! No matter which subway I order it from it seems like there’s a 50/50 shot of them actually having it, I guess it’s not popular enough for anyone to notice :( Always gives me a post lunch crash for the ages tho hahaha

Yeah, most people don’t know it exists and sometimes Subway employees get confused if you ask for it, but it’s surprisingly good for a veggie patty. Better than stuff like Morningstar Farms or Boca burgers.

I mean…there’s a LOT to take in here. First off, I see no evidence that Burger King ever claimed to have given him 400K. I see no reason why Burger King WOULD give an employee 400K for not missing work. Yes, it’s a crazy thing that he didn’t miss 27 years, but what would make people expect a min wage job to give a 400K bonus. The guy in the picture doesn’t look like a manager. He looks like a regular employee.

The person claiming this is @TheBestFigen. And who is that? Why are they reporting this? You don’t trust random sources on twitter for news.

Not that traditional news outlets are much better at verifying their sources, but still.

Good on the daughter for raising 400K, but I suspect theres even more to this story. What was the gofundme for?

“Hey, my dad is a very reliable Burger King worker. Give us money please!”. I don’t think anyone would donate to that. Instead, I suspect he has a medical issue. And people see a Burger King employee who’s unable to pay medical bills, and THEN I could see people donating. That I would understand. That makes sense. Well, it doesn’t make sense that our medical system is set up in a way that makes it come to this, but once you accept it IS this way, it makes sense that people have empathy.

But none of what I just said is whats being presented. This is being presented as “BOO BURGER KING!!! CORPORATE BADDIES!!! WON’T EVEN GIVE A GUY 400K!!!” when in reality…why would they?

Yes 400k would be surprising. But if the claim is true and he never missed a day in 27 years of working there, and Burger King gave him a goodie bag? That’s on the other end of surprising, like that’s an incredible feat and seriously impressive loyalty to the company. It should be rewarded with something a little more substantial imo

From the GoFundMe (not hard to find):

Hi, My name is Seryna. The man in that video is my father. He has worked at his job for 27 years and yes, he has never missed a day of work. He originally began working at this job as a single father when he gained custody of me and my older sister 27 years ago. Then as our family grew and he remarried, he continued to work there because of the amazing health insurance that was provided through this employer because it was unionized. This got all four of his daughters through high school and college with full healthcare coverage.

My dad continues to work there, because though he does look young, he is coming up on retirement age and leaving would cost him his retirement. In no way are we asking for money or is he expecting any money but if anyone feels like blessing him he would love to visit his grandchildren.

I don’t understand. Leaving would “cost” his retirement? Why would he lose it by retiring? Is there a milestone like X years he needs to hit? If so why not stay (if it’s only 3 years, for example). It doesn’t mention him being sick or unable other than age. Why does retiring not use his retirement??

Having paid time off on paper doesn’t mean you have it in practice, as anyone who’s worked food service can tell you. Blaming the guy who had to stay in a low wage job for decades for his kids’ health insurance instead of the corporation that fosters an environment where people are discouraged from or punished for calling out is missing the forest for the trees.

This is usually how PTO in minimum wage jobs works. “Hey boss can I use a PTO day? I’m sick.” “Just find someone to cover your shift.” Of course nobody volunteers so you go in sick or get fired.

As a european i think its fucking disgusting that sick days in america are substracted from vacation days. Don’t you deserve any vacation because you happen to be sick more often then someone else?

Here in germany, if I geht sick during a vacation, i’ll call work and get back all the vacation days that I happened to be sick, because everyone should use his vacation days to regenerate and relax, not to lie in bed being sick.

Sometimes they are separate allotments. My work combined them at one point, which means they would get more vacation time than before as long as they don’t get sick.

Of course that’s still encouraging people to work while sick.

I’m probably going to delete this but to whomever reads this…

If you live in the corporate world, the window you’re jumping through as you grow in your career gets smaller and smaller. Forget the political ideals for a second. I cannot think of any political structure that operates differently. Opportunity narrows the higher you go.

The challenges we face in this environment is that the more you succeed, the more you get shot in the leg in a foot race with your competition. I am a real life example. I am very successful relative to where I came from. My parents had only high school educations. They didn’t know anyone of influence. They didn’t teach me how to conduct myself in a professional dinner setting, let alone balance my check book.

What I learned is the higher you go, the more your competition is positioned against you. How did I get where I am? I exploited their advantages. What did those employing the next role want? How did I improve their situation relative to my competition? What gaps did those who sleepwalked into success get that I lacked? How can I use that to my advantage?

A lot of folks in social media want to toss out this whole structure. That’s fair. I appreciate that. We could probably do better. Until then though, I’d like to share what I’ve learned in how to succeed within it, and maybe, how to slowly change it. I believe we don’t have to break down society. I believe we can win from within.

To explain in case you are serious, IMO I think they’re meaning you can obviously articulate the point to which you came from where you originated class-wise, and explain in detail at that.

But the “sucker” aspect is to point out how, even if we can find a way, the “game” itself seems to lead many to devolve into an existential thought-process of ‘what is the point,’ when it’s much harder now-a-days to get to ANY point of success like a couple of previous generations were able to (those in their 50s+). If a person still believes that “winning” at the game is still important, then they already lost. Or they’re just a bit bitter and using a mocking tone… hard to interpret tone in text.

Yeah I suppose that is fair. I applaud the enthusiasm of folks with new ideas. I don’t, nor have I ever, seen political discourse as “winning” or losing. I just want representation. I want my trans sister to feel safe. I want my gay friends to have a voice in government. I also want to promote the free market economic concepts that folks like Adam Smith actually introduced. What makes me a sucker, I think, is I just don’t know how to get there.

It isn’t in me to play that game. I’m not out here pretending success matters in any permanent way. They’re gonna scatter my ashes the same as anyone else’s and I’m not playing the game.

Now, if I could keep it all for eternity, I’d eat you guys alive to get it. I can’t though, so I’m just gonna ride the rock until I die and help any fellow sufferer I can who feels like I do about it.

My millionaire uncle is 500 times as miserable as me and he’s on vacation every weekend. I’m not running a race to nowhere.

But hey, you do you. If success means something to you, who am I to knock it just because I don’t get it? You don’t step on my nuts and I won’t step on yours. That’s how I roll.

All guys. Everyone. I made that clear. I’d be immortal. The resources I collect would actually matter then. How much success I have would matter then. I’d get to keep it, because I wouldn’t jusy turn around and die after playing the social vampire game to get it.

I don’t hate you. I made my position pretty clear. We aren’t immortal and I’m not gonna be out here in a constant battle for success or resources just to collect it and die.
