Good. I have no desire for more war. However, China has made it clear they consider Taiwan to be part of their territory. Taiwan is an important country for the rest of the world as a great many of the world’s computer chips are made there. This is a vital supply that the rest of the world does not want China to control. If Taiwan is defenseless, if China can conquer them easily and quickly, they are much more likely to do it. If Taiwan has sharp teeth, if conquering Taiwan would mean a bloody war, China is more likely to leave them alone. So if a few billion dollars worth of missiles helps keep Taiwan independent, I think it’s money well spent.

“quietly” as without a fanfare. It is primarily meant to be a deterrent, and it is not a good deterrent if the enemy doesn’t know about it.

Given that they have a big powerful neighbour that has repeatedly and explicitly threatened to invade them, I don’t see a problem here.

Arming to the teeth seems like a pretty inflammatory headline. I’m skeptical of a story that starts with that.

Greaaaat. Love when we pile weapons at the feet of foreign countries. When has this tactic ever failed us. I can’t think of a single geopolitical conflict happening right this very minute where our weapons are being used to kill innocent people. Oh wait, except for that one

Edit: Downvote me harder, cowards. You know it’s happening.
